It was quite the beautiful day outside. The air was warm and thin and there was a light summer breeze blowing. True, it wasn't quite summer yet, but it was quickly wedging it's way in. Soon, spring would be overtaken, and the people of the Manen Region would be walking around in their shorts and flip-flops unless, of course, you were from Caster City, but that was besides the point. In short, it was a warm, comfortable day out; one that was sure to beckon people to come out of their homes and do outside activities. And that was exactly what the day had done to good, old Woolf.
With the nice weather and all, Woolf had decided to come out to one of his favorite routes, Route 26. Despite being more like a park than a route, Woolf loved coming here whenever the days were nice. Maybe it was because of the small, quaint feel of the route that drew Woolf to it so much. It also wasn't very far from Shias City. He could get back to the city quickly via Amelia or Patriot if a challenger happened to appear while he was away. As he continued to walk down the well-traveled path in front of him, Woolf stuck his hand into the inside pocket of his jacket, fishing out a small, black beeper. So far, no one had decided to interrupt his outing. He couldn't imagine it would keep up for much longer.
A small chirp brought Woolf's attention from the beeper in his hands to the small, cloud-like Pokemon that sat perched on his shoulder. She was sitting peacefully with her head and body buried in her large, fluffy wings, obviously asleep. she must have been having a dream, and had unknowingly let out the chirp while playing it out. Woolf smiled softly before letting out a long, drawn-out yawn. You know, a nap sounded good right about now. Instantly stopping in his tracks, the lazy arena head scouted out the surrounding area. He couldn't see any tree branches that would be able to support his weight, at least not in his reach anyways. After a few seconds of scouring, he spotted it. A small, slightly weathered bench. With this being the main path of the route, and the route being so much like a park to begin with, it was only natural to see a bench around.
A huge, and rather goofy, looking smile spread across his tanned face of Woolf made his way over to the bench. It was a bit dirty, and had obviously been used a lot, but it would be fine for a quick afternoon nap. Brushing what dirt was on the bench off with his sleeve, the purple clad man sat down. He carefully moved the sleeping Nimbus from his shoulder to rest on his chest as he laid down. It took a few adjustments, but he was soon comfy. Letting out an relaxed sigh, Woolf closed his eyes and felt the tension escape from his body.
Maybe he could finally get some relaxation without being interupted.

The sheer niceness of the weather was something that anyone could be grateful form and Gwen was not an exception to this rule. The teal haired woman had been cooped up inside most of the day due to several challengers who had rudely woken her up before dawn with their banging on her arena door and general ruckus wishing to battle. Of course, being a challenge arena head, she was not one to be able to refuse these demands despite the fact that she had been extremely tired having stayed up nearly all of the previous night drinking and partying with her 'buddies' as she called them.
Thankfully, Stephaney was able to usher the group off rather quickly with her massive psychic attacks without having to take too many orders from Gwen. After that had been settled out in her personal victory (though more her Gardevoir's victory over her own), instead of getting up and getting ready for the rest of the day, Gwen had simply chosen to go back to bed and had crashed for a good six more hours waking up to find that time had jumped to just after noon. Upon realizing that the weather was good, Gwen had quickly resolved to go out for the afternoon and have those that wished to challenger her come back later.
Though at frst she had literally no idea where she was headed, Gwen eventually found herself at the park route as she had learned to call it over the years of traveling it. It was a nice enough area, and given that she could go home at any given moment, Gwen was free to go where she choce (as long as she had either Stepheny or Andrew with her, of course). The teal haired woman was rather awake at the moment and had started walking around the area more or less now wishing that she had stayed and waited to see if any more challengers would come that day. Oh well.. no use in worrying about it now, heh.
She had walked for a good twenty minutes through the park before Gwen found herself stopping at the sight of the man sleeping on the park bench. He... looked at least reasonably familiar for one reason or another... He didn't really look like the hobo type either..... After a few seconds of simply staring, Gwen finally shrugged her shoulders and walked over. Leaning on the back of the bench, Gwen stared downf or a few seconds before reaching down and flicking the guy's forehead. "Hey you," was finally what came from the woman.

Woolf should have known that his peace was too good to last.
As he felt a small pressure on his forehead followed by an inquiring voice, the lazy old man scrunched up his nose, not wanting to open his eyes. But, he knew all too well he couldn't just pretend to be asleep. If this person was anything like the rest who had the nerve to walk up to him and interrupt his relaxation, they weren't going to just leave. He let out a soft yawn before opening one of his teal eyes to get a look at the person who had spoken to him.
It was a young women. She looked to be in her early twenties from what Woolf could gather. She also looked increasingly familiar. With every millisecond that passed as he looked at her, Woolf was sure he had seen her somewhere before. He just just couldn't put his finger on it. Oh well. He wasn't going to bring it up. He didn't want to look like an idiot if the women didn't have a clue what he was talking about. He would just wait to see if she would reveal her identity
"Hey me." Woolf replied playfully with a small smirk on his face, closing his eye again before stretching out his body a bit. He lazily slipped his arms up and under his head, leaning his head back a bit as he looked towards the sky with closed eyes. Nimbus was still soundly asleep on his chest, not stirred by the women's initial call. Woolf wished he could switch places with her right now. "So, what's your reason for bothering this poor old man?" His tone wasn't harsh. It was more curious and playful, like he was joking with her. With a small smirk on his face, he waited for the women's reply.

Heh. This girl had some spunk in her. Maybe her waking him up wasn't all bad. This could be quite the enjoyable conversation. Woolf opened an eye, again taking the time to look over the fashionable dressed women. He hadn't had time to look at her outfit the first time, and now saw that he saw it...wait...a fashionable dressed twenty-something women. Ah. That was when it hit him. This was the Lium City Challenge Arena Head. Her name was Gwen, if he remembered correctly. He wasn't sure how or why he didn't recognize her before. They had never met like this before, but he had seen her on various occasions in training magazines and such.
As she continued speaking, Woolf rose an eyebrow. So, she had recognized him too. However, she didn't seem to put two and two together yet. That, or she was thrown off by him sleeping on a bench. It was probably the later. An amused smile spread across Woolf's face. Well, he wasn't about to just tell her who he was. Nor was he going to reveal he knew who she was. At least not yet. He would have a little fun first. If she was judging him just by his appearance right now, then he just wasn't going to make identifying him easy for her.
"Mistaken? And just why would you think that?" Woolf closed his eyes again, looking a bit aloof as he looked back towards the sky with closed eyes. "I might very well be the person you're thinking of." He smirked, shrugging his shoulders a bit. "Or I might not. I might just be some lazy park hobo. You never know." His smirk grew, and he turned back towards her, opening both his eyes for the first time as he waited for her response. He was anxious to see how she would react.

Gwendolyn stared at him for a moment raising an eyebrow and turning her head ever so slightly to the right, a habitual move more than anything, really. Was he seriously jerking her chain? After a few seconds, she finally smirked a moment. "Or you're the Cheshire cat," she answered back rather easily before laughing a bit. He really did seem familiar though... and she was sure that he was... one of the arena heads... She'd almost bet money on it if Gwen was more of the gambling type. Yes, she was the drinking type. No, she was not the gambling type, go figure.
After a few more seconds of Gwen staring down at the man, a name hit the back of her brain, and she seemed to smirk a little. Theodore? Was that what it was? A part of her mentally sweat dropped wondering what kind of name Theodore was... It sounded... well just so old, really... like something you would name a grandfather or something... or put on a tombsto-....oh now Gwen was just being mean and knew it. After a moment, she found herself chuckling a bit. Alright, she'd take a bait or two so to speak and see what happened.
"Now we're not gonna play this 'if' and 'that' game, kay? Are you or are you not a Mistah Theodore Woolf Arena head of Shias Town?" the teal haired woman asked with a confident smirk only stopping to mentally face/palm ah herself for using such slang as 'Mistah' rather than a more proper form of the word. It was possibly her only linguistic fault as far as she could tell, and it only seemed to happen on certain words for one reason or another, yet every time she heard the words come out that badly from her own mouth, Gwen had to stop and mentally deadpan.
After a moment, she balled her hand up into a fist and made a cough of sorts before trying again. "A Mister Theodore Woolf," she reiterated rather carefully working on the word 'mister' this time to avoid making a fool of herself.

At the mention of the Cheshire cat, Woolf couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. That was a new comparison, and it fit in some strange way. For a few brief seconds, he let his imagination wander, thinking of what it would be like to really be a Cheshire cat. if he could disappear like the cat, he would never have to worry about being bothered when he didn't want to be again. Plus, that cat had perfect teeth; there would be no need for him to even go near a dentist's office! Woolf quickly forced his eyes wide open, snapping himself out of his thoughts. Oh dear. He had let his inner child take hold of him. He needed to keep a leash on that thing. It was always popping up when it wasn't wanted.
As the newly identified Gwendolyn started to chuckle again out of the blue, Woolf brought his attention back to her. As she began to speak, a smile grew larger and larger across the man's face. So, she had figured out his game that quick, and had the guts to call him out on it. She sure wasn't you're typical sweet and shy girl. Woolf liked that about her. He had a feeling he could grow to like this fellow arena head as a good friend, maybe; as long as she didn't wake him up too many more times! As Gwen corrected herself on her misused slang (which he didn't even notice by the way), Woolf waited for a few seconds of suspense to pass before looking up at her with a small pout on his face.
"Aw, come on now. The way you said that makes me sound so old." Woolf quickly changed his expression, looking up at the twenty-something with a small smile plastered on his face. "You can just call me 'Woolf'." He grinned before rubbing the back of his head, shrugging his shoulders a bit as he did so. "But I guess you figured me out, huh? Well, it's good to know that the Lium Town Arena Head has a good head on her shoulders, right Gwen?" With that, he revealed that he recognized her as well, and that he really had been playing a game with her. He was curious to how she would react.
By the time that her trainer had admitted to knowing Gwen's identity, Nimbus had awoken from her deep slumber. It was impossible to sleep with all that racket! With a small chirp, which could have been compared to a yawn, she fluffed out her cloud-like wings and glanced over at the women behind the bench. She seemed to be nice enough, but Nimbus didn't really care. Well, she didn't really care about anything at all besides sleeping, so this wasn't shocking or anything. She would just wait here, glaring at this women and trying to be intimidating (like that was possible) until she left so she could get back to sleep in peace.

Gwen smirked a little when the arena head had stated that it made him sound old. Heh, so she was right then. As he explained his sort of nickname, she chuckled a little to herself only to stop again when he spoke of her home town and the fact that he knew what she was too. "Heh, I was right," she answered back with quite a bit of confidence in her voice. "And man you have no idea," she laughed before putting her hands on her hips and looking down at him now with a raised eyebrow and a half smirk still plastered on her features.
"So what's the Shias Town Arena Head doing taking a nap on a park bench anyways? I didn't think that'd be too comfortable... then again, I wouldn't know" she grinned a bit. The closest she had ever gotten to sleeping on such would be the few times that she had passed out on a bar after having a bit too much to drink. Thankfully the bartenders were always nice enough to keep the pests off of her and wake her up when closing time hit.
Upon hearing the bird yawn, Gwen's eye moved over to the Swablu, and she found herself chuckling wondering how she hadn't noticed it before hand. However, as she noticed that she was being glared at, the teal haired woman smirked a bit too confidently for her own good and stared back at the bird. "Ah, hun, what are you glaring at me for?" she finally asked with a lighter smile of sorts.

It was inevitable that Gwen would ask about the park bench sooner or later, and it turned out to be sooner. Woolf let out a small sigh as she said it though, as if it was a bothersome question. Well, to Woolf, it was just because of the fact that he had to answer it so often. Couldn't a middle-aged man just sleep in the middle of nowhere on a random park bench without being interrogated for it? But, he didn't entertain this thought for long, and buried what little, petty annoyance he had before looking back up at Gwen.
"Actually, it's more comfortable than you think. You see, the trick is just finding the right spot. You just gotta wriggle around a bit," He demonstrated, wagging his body in a small back-and-forth motion on the bench before stopping and letting out a long sigh, as if he had just found his 'spot'. "And then it's just as good as any bed. Although, with that skinny frame of yours, it might not work as well." He let out a small chuckle as he let a hand fall on his stomach, a small echo-like sound being heard as he did so. "It's one of the few situations where a little fat does you good." This sentence was followed by another chuckle that morphed into a small sigh. Mentioning his fat reminded him how he hadn't eaten since breakfast.
As Gwen retaliated against Nimbus's unappreciative glare, Woolf simply waved his hand in the air and let a small smile form on his face. "Oh, don't let Nimbus get to you. She's probably just jealous that another girl is talking to me." Although Woolf thought that was pretty witty and funny, Nimbus was definitely not amused. First they had woke her up, and now Woolf had the nerve to poke fun of her? She quickly turned her attention from Gwen to her trainer and spread out her wings. In one swift action, she flew up to Woolf's face and hit him with a Peck attack before nonchalantly flying back to sit in her original spot on her trainer's chest. Woolf was definitely not expecting this, and let out a sharp yell of protest has his Swablu attacked him. "Ow! Hey! I was just kidding, Nimbus." A small pout formed on Woolf's as he rubbed the spot on the top of his head that the Swablu hit. "Geeze..."

Gwen's eyebrow raised at the reply on the bench, and for a few seconds, she found herself resisting the urge to laugh about the fact that she was thin. Eh... She did have a beer belly starting to grow, but Gwen was keeping an eye on that as best she could at least for the moment. No need to go and not fit into the close she made for herself, after all.At the reactions of the Swablu to her trainer's words, Gwen found her face turning red, and soon enough, she was fighting off a laugh that was coming to her. However, said laugh finally did come in the form of a full on light laugh that finally broke from the teal haired woman.
"She don't take insults well," Gwen smirked a little as she continued to look at Woolf and his pokemon. "I can respect that," she chuckled a little more before finally shaking her head. "I have a cat back home who is too proud for his own good, but even I have to respect him for a few things," she chuckled to herself thinking of her spiteful and increasingly prideful Espeon who pretty much believed he could do anything and everything for himself and not bother with others.
"Going to be a pretty Altaria one day, missy?" Gwen asked looking at Nimbus again for a few seconds before smiling a little only to feel her stomach twitch. Ah... she was hungry....heh.... After a few seconds, a thought came to Gwen, and she looked back at Woolf. "Hey how about this?" she asked with a confident smirk. "As retribution of some sorts for waking you up from your nap, seeing as my daddy always did say 'let sleepin' dogs lie', how about we go out to breakfast or lunch....brunch... my treat?" she chimed rather easily.

As he heard Gwen laugh at his misfortune, the pout on Woolf's face grew even larger, and he felt his tanned cheek start to grow red. Great, he had managed to embarrass himself. He hated being embarrassed. However, lying on this park bench didn't give him much of an opening for escape, and he couldn't just walk off like he usually did. He instead felt himself look away from the other arena head, trying to cover up his embarrassment by casually rubbing the back of his head.
During this time, as Gwen turned her attention away from Woolf and to the small bird on his chest, Nimbus acted as though she didn't hear the girl's voice. As she mentioned her sometime evolving into an Altaria, arguably one of the prettiest bird Pokemon there was, the Swablu simply turned her head. Flattery wasn't going to get this stranger anywhere. Even at the mention of food, the Swablu still managed to ignore the women. However, her trainer wasn't as such. At the very mention of getting something to eat, the blush disappeared from his face and his expression turned into that of excitement.
"Lunch you say? Well, that would be just dandy! Wouldn't it, Nimbus?" A toothy grin spread across Woolf's face as he looked down at his Pokemon. Nimbus, a little startled by her trainer's change in attitude, looked at him blankly before being thrown off her comfortable spot as Woolf quickly sat up and jumped off the bench. Luckily, the Swablu skillfully regained her balance in midair, hovering just above the bench as she tried to process what was going. With a slight shake of her head, she silently went to sit on her trainer's head, not really caring what was going on anymore. Woolf didn't pay any mind to this, and just looked back at Gwen with that same, goofy expression he had before. "So, where to?" He chirped a bit too cheerfully. But, this was food they were talking about after all, and anyone who knew Woolf knew how he got when it came to food.

Lotali City? To be honest, it definately wasn't somewhere Woolf went to often. In fact, he couldn't remember the last time he was actually in the large city. It was just too crowded for his tastes. But hey, with all the people there, there was sure to be some great food too! That thought alone was enough to convince Woolf that this destination was the right choice, and he looked over to Gwen gleefully.
"Hey, as long as it's edible, I don't care what we eat or where we go." It was true after all. As long as it could be digested, Woolf would eat it. One could compare him to that of a garbage disposal. Not the most flattering comparison, but an appropriate one. Walking forward so that he was a few paces in front of Gwen, he stopped abruptly before looking back at the other arena head. He had a rather sheepish grin on his face. He had just realized he had no idea where he was going. Maybe he should just follow Gwen instead.
"Hehe, lead the way!"
